Tan stoneware sipper (yunomi), with a shino glaze. Wheel-thrown and altered into a square shape. Wood fired.

Marks are created by stacking work closely to each other. What you see is a record of the flame’s path through the kiln, and where the wood ash builds up. This piece was in the firebox of the kiln, meaning it got partially submerged in wood ash and embers. This is what makes it look like it was found at the bottom of the sea.
